The Olympus E-30 boasts its six new Art Filters that allows the users more ways to express the creativity and uniqueness of the user. You can select from Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light Color, Light Tone, Grainy Film, or Pin Hole Camera. There are also other creative functions that include Multiple Exposure and Live View. The Pop Art enhances colors which make it more saturated and vivid; Soft Focus creates a delicate atmosphere that renders subjects in a heavenly light without unclear details; Pale & Light Color encloses the foreground of an image in flat gentle light and pastel colors; Light Tone renders shade and highlight areas softly; Grainy Film evokes the feeling of documentary footage shot in monochrome with grainy high contrast film; and the Pin Hole that decreases peripheral brightness of an image.
It also features the Autofocus Live View with Face Detection which is the most advanced Live View to date with imager AF and advanced functions to free the user and give them power to express themselves in new ways. You can be able to easily capture the shot with the 2.7-inch swivel LCD providing 270 degrees of movement. The LCD displays 230,000 pixels in vivid colors and includes HyperCrystal technology that offers many times the contrast of conventional LCD monitors for easier viewing in both previews a playback. It also provides wide viewing angle of 176 degrees that ensures images can be composed from even the most unclear angles.
The In-body Image Stabilization allows any lens to produce images free from the blur of camera shake and in low-light situations from the 8mm Fisheye to the 300mm focal length. The Olympus E-30 provides nine aspect ratios including standard 4:3 and also 16:9 for impressive, cinematic style images, and 6:6 which is available with the medium format cameras plus 3:2, 5:4. 7:6, 6:5 and 3:4.
The Olympus E30’s Digital Leveler indicates the alignment of the camera related to the horizon either on the rear LCD screen or in the viewfinder. The direction of the camera body identifies the tilt in both Roll and Pitch. It also boasts the newly developed high specification Live MOS sensor with 12.3 million effective pixels that provides high resolution to reproduce subject details with rich tones and natural, vibrant colors to satisfy the user’s aesthetic demands.
The TruePic III+ Image Processing maximizes the performance of the lenses and the 12.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor. The three image-processing technologies deliver even more beautiful imaging with a richer range of tonal expression and more natural color reproduction especially for large format prints. The Program Landscape mode sets the camera in maximizing the depth of field. The Sports or Action gives you faster shutter speeds to stop action.
There are also 5 ways to measure subject brightness which include the advanced 49-area Matrix ESP meter, Center weighted averaging metering, and 3 types of spot metering. The E-30 shutter life can reach up to 100,000 exposures which makes it one of the best in its class. The 1/8000 sec high speed shutter enables instant shooting while the X-1/250 sec is ideal for daylight synchro photography. There are also 11 easy to use scene modes that optimize the camera’s settings to ensure great shots. The pixel-mapping feature allows the camera to check and adjust the image pickup device and image processing functions.
